Friends – Joy Thigpen, Ceremony, and I have teamed up to bring a really unique and awesome opportunity to creatives local to Boston! I had the opportunity to attend Joy’s 3-day workshop in Atlanta last year, and I learned SO much about putting my best foot forward with my portfolio, what good images (and bad ones) look like, designing a styled shoot that will result in Once Wed-worthy images, and how to style stationery and florals with an editorial eye. It’s been invaluable to my business, and I’m so excited that Joy has agreed to hold a Styling Day for us right in our own backyard!
The day begins at 10am at Ceremony. Here’s a brief rundown of what we’re planning to cover:
- Joy presents the principles of a high-quality editorial image
- Joy discusses and demonstrates styling stationery
- Stationery styling breakout – attendees style stationery while Joy comes around to work with everyone
- Attendees work with photographer and/or Joy to get photos of their stationery work for their portfolio
- Quick lunch (lunch will be provided)
- Joy discusses and demonstrates her principles of designing a centerpiece arrangement
- Floral arrangement breakout – attendees put together their own centerpiece arrangement while Joy comes around and works with each person
- Attendees work with photographer and/or Joy to get photos of their arrangement
- Q+A, time mingling with Joy
We’ll have Ruth Eileen Photography on hand to capture beautiful images of attendees’ work to feature in their portfolios, and spend lots of time getting to know each other and chatting with Joy about the business of being creative.
This is a very rare opportunity (Joy is not offering workshops anytime in the near future) to learn from one of the pioneers of design within the wedding industry, and we’re lucky to have her sharing her talents with us!
